Science & Technology Australia is expanding the acclaimed Superstars of STEM program and other STA programs. This is your chance to be part of the redesign and growth of the Superstars of STEM program with an increasing focus on cultural capability and reaching Indigenous and other under-represented groups.

About the role

We are looking for people who are highly organised, demonstrate good judgement, and have strong relationship building skills. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will provide efficient, professional, and confidential administrative assistance to the Superstars of STEM program and the Science Policy Fellows Alumni program. You will be supported to grow and lead in this role.

This is a maternity cover position based in our Canberra office and is offered as a full or part-time roles for 6 months initially with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive and well organised administrative support to the Program Manager including but not limited to correspondence, database management and meeting coordination.
  • Be the main point of contact for program participants regarding training, opportunities, and mentoring components of the Superstars of STEM program.
  • Assist with re-designing the Superstars of STEM program, including identifying new training facilitators and recruiting mentors for the program.
  • Grow relationships with partner organisations to develop opportunities for program participants in schools, on stage and in the media.
  • Organise meetings and events for the Science Policy Fellow Alumni and support the leadership group to achieve their goals.
  • Other duties as required.

Selection criteria:

  • Outstanding attention to detail and time management, and an ability to juggle competing priorities and respond quickly and professionally as issues unfold;
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to nurture successful relationships with a range of stakeholders;
  • Excellent administration skills or an interest in building them, including database management, correspondence, and event logistics;
  • Dedication and willingness to assist other staff across the STA team;
  • A passion for the STEM sector and a commitment to the principles of diversity, fairness, and equal opportunity.
