Sydney Drug Education and Counselling Centre (SDECC) seeks new board members. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative board focused on making a real impact in the community.
We are focussed on further enhancing our position as a centre of excellence in the Northern Sydney Region so candidates with a passion for helping us achieve this would be welcome.
We are looking for up to three board members with relevant experience and skills in the areas of board membership, governance, and compliance and policies. Experience in the not-for-profit or community services areas would be welcome although not essential.
The roles involve attending 6-7 board meetings per annum, mainly in person (at Manly or St Leonards) with some online, and membership of a board committee with 3-4 meetings per annum. The total time commitment would be around 3-5 hours per month depending on the role.
SDECC is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation based in Manly, NSW. We provide services across the North Sydney region (Northern Beaches to Ryde, Sydney Harbour to Hornsby). We specialise in providing free clinical counselling for young people aged 12-25, and their families, around alcohol and drug use. We offer services both face-to-face in North Sydney at our Manly and St Leonards locations, and via telehealth consultations. We also provide a range of group services for parents of young people and the community. We are funded by Commonwealth and State Governments.
Our purpose is to empower Young People, their families and communities to minimise the harms associated with their use of alcohol and other drugs.
We are seeking board members with:
Experience in community services or the NFP sector at the board or management level would be very helpful.
