Are you a multi-skilled professional with a love of sport and a passion for the environment? Could you lead an organisation to deliver a Strategic Plan for maximum impact, while ensuring financial stability and growth? Are you happy to roll up your sleeves and get things done?
SEA's Board of Directors is looking for an experienced hands-on, self-reliant, self-starting Chief Executive Officer with executive and not-for-profit experience. The applicant should hold a relevant tertiary qualification, a strong network and an understanding of the sports industry and member-based organisations. An understanding of the environmental challenges relating to the UN sustainability goals is also required to deliver SEA’s strategic plan.
The CEO will lead a small part-time team, which is committed to delivering programs that inspire positive environmental and sustainability action. SEA is seeking a hands-on and inspiring leader with strong commercial and financial skills, to increase memberships and partnerships and to drive growth.
The CEO will work closely with the SEA Chair and Board for its bi-monthly virtual meetings. It is expected that the CEO will engage with SEA members, partners, sponsors and key stakeholders.
This position is a part-time position (4 days a week). As SEA does not have an office the CEO will work from a place of his or her choosing.
Sports Environment Alliance (SEA) is one of four similar organisations in the world (BASIS, GSA, SandSI ) that are leading the growing movement for environmental sustainability in, by and through sport. SEA leads the sport industry’s engagement with the circular economy in Australia and New Zealand through education and inspiration for a more sustainable future.
SEA Vision:That sport inspires action on the environment and climate.
SEA Purpose:To lead, educate and empower the sport ecosystem to take action for and influence a sustainable and regenerative future.
Many of Australia’s leading sporting organisations are members of SEA as its profile and environmental credentials are highly valued and attractive to an action-orientated sports community.
Since the UN Sport for Climate Action Framework [released in 2018] was released, there has been a growing number of signatories and more attention directed towards working collaboratively to make positive change. The release of the IPCC’s latest report [released on 10th August 2021] is both a warning and an opportunity to galvanise a response to guarantee the future of sport locally and globally.
SEA seeks expressions of interest from people who have the following qualities, knowledge and experience.
