Our head office is based in Melbourne. It is preferred that a portion of time is spent working from the office, however if this is not possible due to location, then 100% remote working is also accepted.

About the Opportunity

Are you a seasoned fundraiser with a track record for success in donor acquisition and retention strategies, along with a passion for the oceans?

This is a unique opportunity for someone with passion, dedication and drive to make a significant difference to Marine Conservation. In this exciting role, you will be accountable for generating and optimising the generous donations made by individuals in alignment with Sea Shepherd’s 5-year strategy, by implementing tactics for conversion from single gift to regular giving. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising you will have the opportunity to drive the design and execution of Sea Shepherd’s giving portfolio.

This role will be perfect for a hands-on, team-player looking to own the development of a multi-channel, end-to-end, Individual Giving Program.

What you’ll do

• Coordinate and deliver single gift appeals to acquire, retain and reactivate single gift donors using EDM, social media and SMS channels.
• Report and analyse the effectiveness of all single gift appeals, to measure acquisition, retention, attrition, and ROI
• Implement ongoing tactics for conversion from single gift to regular giving.
• Coordinate, deliver and maintain a program that works to acquire, retain, and reactivate our regular givers using telemarketing, EDM, social media and SMS channels.
• Report and analyse the effectiveness of all regular giving programs, to measure acquisition, retention, attrition, and ROI.
• Work closely with Head of Fundraising to develop and manage income and expense budgets, forecasting and reporting across all individual giving programs.
• Project Manage the appeals and regular giving Programs to produce briefs and timelines for each activity to ensure they are executed on time and on budget.
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure they are involved and informed of deadlines.
• Work collaboratively and seek input from relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop detailed creative appeal briefs.
• Coordinate and deliver a suite of telemarketing programs to acquire, convert, upgrade, retain and reactivate regular givers and single gift supporters.
• Report and analyse the effectiveness of all regular giving telemarketing programs.
• Prepare and present regular updates and training sessions for telemarketers.
• Liaise and develop productive working relationships with external agencies to successfully conduct acquisition, retention, and upgrade programs for both single gift and regular giving programs.
• Work closely and collaboratively with Head of Fundraising and Communications team to contribute to producing engaging content for supporter communications.
• Coordinate and deliver an integrated retention and engagement program, including seamless automated donor journeys both off and online to ensure timely delivery of all donor communications.
• Ensure donation processing, receipting, recognition, and ongoing supporter care is delivered to the highest standard.

What you’ll need

• You’ll have proven experience and an outstanding track record of success in managing end-to-end and ongoing direct response campaigns.
• You’ll be able to demonstrate experience in the successful planning and implementation of donor retention and acquisition strategies that meet budget requirements.
• You’ll have experience in report writing, complimented by strong data and analytical skills.
• You’ll have a clear understanding of fundraising practices in particular regular giving programs.

• You’ll be a team player with a “can do” attitude able to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.
• You’ll have 2 to 3+ years proven work experience in similar fundraising roles specialising in designing and implementing fundraising campaigns.
• You’ll have a proven track record of success in increasing revenue in this portfolio.
• You’ll have exceptional verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by the ability to develop and maintain relationships with people from all levels of business and community.
• You’ll have a high attention to detail with excellent organisation, time management and project management skills.
• You’ll be confident using Salesforce NPSP (or other customer relationship management databases), Mailchimp and other relevant 3rd Party platforms.
