SECCA is looking for an experienced Clinician to join our growing team!

This position will report to the Manager and will work in conjunction with the Education and Clinical teams to deliver best practice relationship and sexuality counselling, education and training for individuals with disability and their support networks. This position is critical in supporting SECCA’s clients to affirm their rights and take ownership of decisions in their lives.

About SECCA

At SECCA, our mission is to enrich the lives of individuals with disability through education and therapeutic support focused on sexuality and relationships. Drawing on over 30 years of experience, we are dedicated to empowering individuals, families and carers with knowledge and resources about human relationships, sexuality and sexual health. We achieve this through a range of services including support, counselling, education, consulting and advocacy.

At SECCA, no two days are the same, but you can expect key duties to include:

  • Providing individual counselling and education on relationship sexuality education for individuals with disability and their support networks.
  • Provide consultancy services to disability service providers, family members, and allied health professionals, offering tailored information, strategies, and resources related to sexuality and relationships for individuals with disability.
  • Creating personalised therapy and intervention plans, including preventative strategies.
  • Conducting client assessments to develop individualised goals and treatment plans.
  • Regularly reviewing client outcomes throughout the counselling process.
  • Building and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and refer clients to ensure well-rounded support.
  • Participating in case and family conferences and relevant meetings.
  • Participating in peer supervision to enhance clinical practice through reflection, insight sharing, and feedback for improved client care.
  • Proactively responding to inquiries about SECCA’s services.
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and client data following administrative procedures.
  • Engaging in continuous quality improvements by gathering client feedback.
  • Upholding professional ethics, agency policies and the SECCA and NDIS Code of Conduct at all times.

About You

You would be perfect for the role if you are passionate about supporting individuals with disability and have a value-driven mindset.

The ideal candidate will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Sexology or a related field.
  • Registered with a peak body (e.g. AHPRA, PACFA, ACA, AASW).
  • The relevant NDIS requirements, including a Screening Check, WWCC, Police Clearance and Workers Orientation module.
  • Demonstrated counselling and clinical skills, with a focus on relationship sexuality education.
  • Experience working with people with disability.
  • In-depth knowledge of sexuality and sexual health issues, including current trends and developments in the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of human sexuality and behaviour.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with good judgment and discretion.
  • Previous experience building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated organisational, analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Competent in relevant ICT applications and tools.
  • Experience in research and report writing.
