About the role

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Legal team who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of older people in our communities.

The Legal Support Officer will provide operational support to the legal team which consists of paralegals, solicitors and the Principal Solicitor, as well as work collaboratively with other services within Seniors Rights Service. This role, based in Surry Hills, offers hybrid work arrangements, allowing for a blend of community-based, office-based, and remote working options.

The role is a full-time position offered on a maximum term contract extending until the end of June 2026, in alignment with our current funding period, ensuring long-term stability and commitment.

Role Responsibilities

As a Legal Support Officer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Assist with community legal education and other information event bookings.
  • Respond to external requests for service information.
  • Distribute brochures and other collateral to stakeholders and event participants.
  • Create, maintain and update enquiries in CRM (Actionstep).
  • Collate documents and other material for solicitor appointments.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing physical and digital mail.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the legal team.
  • Provide general administrative and secretarial support such as minute taking, formatting documents and photocopying.
  • Maintain stock levels of brochures, collateral and other office supplies.
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by the Principal Solicitor.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience in a legal support, paralegal or customer service role.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise and undertake a range of administrative tasks and clerical duties including word processing.
    Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and prioritise work to deliver results.
  • Highly proficient with technology and software, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • A passion for social change and contributing to an organisation dedicated to supporting the most disadvantaged people in our communities.
  • Prepared to undertake and maintain a National Criminal History check as a condition of employment.
