About the role

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our Legal team who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of older people in our communities.

The Paralegal will provide invaluable legal support to a dedicated team of Solicitors. This role, based in Surry Hills, offers hybrid work arrangements, allowing for a blend of community-based, office-based, and remote working options. The role is a full-time position offered on a maximum term contract extending until the end of June 2025, in alignment with our current funding period.

Role Responsibilities

As a Paralegal, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing client-centred intake and assessment services in an effective and timely manner.
  • Assisting people to access our services and follow-up on legal enquiries from a range of stakeholders.
  • Carry out legal research and draft legal documentation under general direction.
  • Assist solicitors with the management of files, records and documents.
  • Working collaboratively with and across teams within the organisation.
  • Supporting and working with a team of Practical Legal Training students.
  • Creating, maintaining and updating client enquiries in CRM (Actionstep).
  • Some intrastate travel is required.

Selection Criteria:

  • Have a law degree (Associate or LLB) or experience in a Paralegal role.
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information concisely to a diverse range of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Proven attention to detail, accuracy and a pragmatic problem solver.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, initiative and to escalate any matters when required.
  • Highly proficient with technology and software, including Microsoft Office 365.
  • A passion for social change and contributing to an organisation dedicated to supporting the most disadvantaged people in our communities.
  • Prepared to undertake and maintain a National Criminal History check and NSW driver’s license as a condition of employment.
