ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our legal team who are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of older people in our communities.

The Paralegal will provide invaluable legal support to a dedicated team of Solicitors. This role, based in Surry Hills, offers hybrid work arrangements, allowing for a blend of office-based and remote working options.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Paralegal, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing client-centred intake and assessment services in an effective and timely manner
  • Assisting people to access our services and follow-up on legal enquiries from a range of stakeholders
  • Carry out legal research and draft legal documentation under general direction
  • Assist solicitors with the management of files, records and documents
  • Working collaboratively with and across teams within the organisation
  • Supporting and working with a team of Practical Legal Training students
  • Creating, maintaining and updating client enquiries in CRM (Actionstep)
  • Some intrastate travel is required

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Have a law degree (Associate or LLB) or experience in a Paralegal role
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information concisely to a diverse range of people
  • Demonstrated ability to work to tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Proven attention to detail, accuracy and a pragmatic problem solver
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and initiative and to escalate any matters when required
  • Highly proficient with technology and software, including Microsoft Office 365
  • A passion for social change and contributing to an organisation dedicated to supporting the most disadvantaged people in our communities
  • Prepared to undertake and maintain a National Criminal History check and NSW driver’s license as a condition of employment
