We are looking for a Fundraising all-rounder with passion, drive and a genuine “can-do” attitude who is confident managing competing priorities across a variety of fundraising programs.

As the Fundraising Coordinator you’ll be a valuable member of our small, but dedicated team. You’ll work closely with the Individual Giving Manager to provide practical support across a broad range of fundraising activities including Tax and Christmas Appeals, Child Sponsorship, Regular Giving and Community Fundraising programs.

The role provides support to the wider Fundraising team including, answering the phone, donor care, data entry and co-ordinating volunteers.

School for Life’s vision is to educate poverty out of existence. Established in 2008, School for Life is now educating over 1,100 students enrolled across 3 schools and employs over 110 locals across all its educational and related operations in Uganda. We believe in the transformative power of education to break the cycle of poverty.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising

  • Delivering excellent donor care, including responding to donor enquiries on the phone and by email in a professional and timely manner.
  • Providing practical fundraising support across a broad range of activities, including Appeals, Child Sponsorship, Regular Giving and Community Fundraising programs.
  • Creating marketing material for Appeals, Child Sponsorship, Regular Giving and Community Fundraising programs.
  • Assisting with the creation and implementation of donor acquisition, upgrade and retention activities to grow School for Life’s revenue.
  • Updating and creating website pages to be used for Appeals, Child Sponsorship, Regular Giving and Community Fundraising programs.
  • Managing the child sponsorship and regular giving stewardship, including donor communications, payment administration and welcome and exit programs.
  • Providing hands-on support to community fundraisers, helping them to achieve their fundraising potential to meet revenue targets.
  • Oversight and support of donation processing and accurate updating of supporter information in School for Life’s CRM Salesforce.
  • Supporting the Office Coordinator with administration duties such as welcoming visitors, checking the mail, ensuring office cleanliness and meeting room preparation for meetings.
  • Act as a representative for School for Life at networking events to prospect more support.

Volunteer Management

  • Recruit and train volunteers for the School for Life office, Annual Gala Ball and other fundraising events as required.
  • Supervise and manage School for Life’s office volunteers to effectively support the wider team.
  • Maintain an accurate database of current volunteers and volunteer hours.

Selection Criteria:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in fundraising or donor relationship management in a similar role at a not-for-profit or for-purpose organisation.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience providing dynamic support to a team.
  • Customer service or donor-centric supporter care experience with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Sound computer skills using MS Office, Google Suite and familiarity with databases like Salesforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including face to face, phone and email).
  • Excellent multi-tasking, planning and organisational skills, with meticulous attention to detail Desirable selection criteria:
  • Experience working across multiple fundraising programs (including appeals, acquisition, regular giving and community fundraising).
  • Experience creating videos utilising Premiere Pro, imovie or similar.
  • Experience utilising various web platforms (such as Raisely, Squarespace, Canva, Stripe and Zapier).
  • Experience communicating on the phone with internal and external stakeholders.
