Join our dedicated Head to Health team at Roselands as a Mental Health Clinician! This temporary part-time role (60.80hrs/fortnight until 30 June 2025), with potential for extension, offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact on individuals experiencing psychological distress. 

You'll provide short to medium-term multidisciplinary care, offer vital support to those at risk, and connect people with essential services in the region. With a strong focus on recovery-based and trauma-informed approaches, you'll be part of a team that values diversity and is committed to ending stigma around mental health.

About the Role

The Mental Health Clinician provides a highly visible and accessible entry point to services for people experiencing psychological distress, where all feel safe and welcomed. Among other responsibilities, Mental Health Clinicians:

  • Offer an episode of care model based on short to medium term multidisciplinary collaborative care, aimed at improving psychological wellbeing for people with moderate to high levels of mental health need, whose needs are not being met through other services.
  • Respond to people in significant distress, including people at heightened risk of suicide, providing support that may reduce the need for emergency department attendance.
  • Provide a central point to connect people to other services in the region, including through offering information and advice about mental health and AOD use, service navigation and warm referral pathways for individuals, and their carers and family.

Your skills and experience

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a mental health discipline, such as Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing or counselling. 
  2. Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), AASW, PACFA (Clinical registration) or ACA level 3.
  3. A current driver licence and access to a fully insured vehicle.
  4. An understanding of the recovery- based and trauma-informed approach to assisting people with mental health concerns.
  5. Knowledge of the NSW mental health system and local services; or demonstrated ability to rapidly develop this knowledge.
  6. Minimum 2 years experience in providing clinical assessments and evidence-based mental health interventions.
  7. Strong relationship building skills to navigate, collaborate and develop partnerships within the NSW mental health system and local services.
