The team operate locally as self-organised teams – called Recovery 2gether teams.

Team members are collectively responsible and accountable for:

  • Working with the people we support (e.g. clients, consumers, family, and carers) 
  • Undertaking key functions (eg. Recruitment and onboard, Quality and Safety etc) by a nominated Function lead

Team members work collaboratively with other team members to facilitate the effective operation of the team supported by an Operations Lead/Recovery 2gether Coach.

The Program

The National Psychosocial Services provides support to individuals living with severe and persistent mental health challenges and delivers Mental Health recovery focused groups, social connection and skill development. One on one peer support, service navigation and linkage as well as support to apply for NDIS.

About the Role

This role works with people with psychosocial disability to facilitate:

  • Culturally informed intake and referral, in a manner which focuses on wellbeing
  • Timely access to the best options for support at One Door and our sub-contracted partners for the program and or other appropriate external programs

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Triage incoming referrals for NPS Access and Connector in Western Sydney, and NDIS services across NSW
  • Perform brief, recovery-focused intake assessments to match consumer-need with program eligibility
  • Warmly connect consumers with the best support option (internal and external) to match need
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key psychosocial support stakeholders and attend relevant
  • Form and maintain relationships with key psychosocial support stakeholders; attend relevant meetings
  • Maintain and act upon up-to-date information on available NDIS programs for each region we service

To succeed in this role, we are looking for

  • Certificate IV in a relevant discipline (e.g. mental health, peer work, disability) or equivalent experience
  • An understanding of the recovery- based approach to assisting people with severe and persistent mental illness
  • Lived experience of mental illness and the ability to use the experience to support others
  • Ability to work independently, with high volume workflow and within clear
  • Knowledge of the NSW mental health system and local services
  • Ability to use culturally safe practices in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, culturally and linguistically diverse and LGBTQI communities

Your application for this position will require you to have a Police Check (verified in the last 6 months), a current Working with Children's Check, an application in process for the NDIS Worker Screening clearance at Service NSW and under the current public health order, a Covid-19 vaccination certificate or evidence of a medical exemption.
