Shelter WA is the peak body in Western Australia for the community housing and homelessness sectors. Our vision is that all people living in Western Australia have a home that enables them to thrive. We’re a small, close-knit team who are all passionate about making a difference to those who have experienced, continue to experience or are at risk of homelessness.
The HOME Project is supporting People With Lived Experience (PWLE) of homelessness and housing insecurity to engage effectively with government, the community services sector and the broader community. We believe lived experience voices are critical to our strategic goals of improving housing outcomes. The project is funded by the Sisters of St John of God until end June 2025 with the possibility of an extension until end Dec 2025.
As well as a team of Lived Experience codesigners, you will be supporting the Lived Experience HOME Project Lead, and our externally contracted facilitator, evaluator and peer supporters. You will be supporting people with lived experience to build their capacity and contribute their expertise as they undertake co-design activities to achieve the project outcomes. It’s an ambitious project that is at an exciting transition point. A supportive handover and induction will be available from the existing team.
The role is offered at 0.8 FTE. There are one and sometimes two fixed days most weeks where you will need to be present in person for codesign meetings with the team. Other work can be undertaken remotely although we encourage some days of attendance in our Adelaide Tce office so you can enjoy collaboration and learning with the rest of our team. Independent Peer Supervision is provided, along with EAP and training opportunities.
You will have completed some lived experience training and or/ have experience working alongside people with lived experience in a project setting. You will have a strengths based and trauma aware approach that promotes lived experience voices and capacity building. You will have strong administrative skills, and enjoy working with the team to shape how the project can be best delivered to meet outcomes. You will be a confident communicator, able to support meetings and prepare a wide variety of written content in plain language. You will be someone who enjoys collaboration and building relationships with like-minded individuals and organisations.
