Are you a qualified counsellor looking for a diverse role inclusive of individual counselling and psychoeducation for adults and young people with disabilities, on an individual basis and in group settings? This exciting role can also include Sexual and Reproductive Health education programs (primary school, high school and college) and the opportunity to become a SoSAFE! trainer.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Delivering high quality, trauma-informed and client-centred counselling services utilising counselling modalities in line with professional and National Standards
- Ensuring clients understand their sexual rights, including autonomy, consent, and the right to form and maintain relationships
- Raising awareness about sexual rights and potential challenges specific to people with disabilities through workshops, seminars, or trainings for parents and professionals
- Offering support, guidance and education to caregivers and professionals, helping them support clients’ personal goals in a respectful and informed manner
- Supporting the Education, Health Promotion and Training Unit in developing and delivering Relationships and Sexuality Education
- Ensuring sexual health programs and counselling sessions are inclusive and respect diverse abilities, identities, sexual orientations, and gender expressions
- Advocating for client’s goal-oriented care and support
- Collaborating with a range of services and the community to ensure a coordinated and integrated support for clients
- Maintaining accurate client records
- Referring clients to appropriate services when required.
