Small Giants Academy (SGA) is a not-for-profit, global centre that nurtures & empowers conscious leaders for a hopeful future. Through our programs, storytelling and labs, we empower emerging and established leaders from all walks of life and sectors with the tools, knowledge and community to respond meaningfully to the metacrisis of the 21st century.

Working closely with the visionary and passionate Co-Founders and reporting to the Board of Directors (we call our Board Guardians of Purpose or Guardians), the responsibilities of the CEO include:

  • Leading and embodying the vision, direction and principles of SGA
  • Developing and recommending to the Guardians strategies, business plans and annual budgets
  • Implementing the strategies, business plans and budgets adopted by the Guardians of Purpose
  • Meeting the Guardians’ performance expectations and KPI’s, both in their individual role as CEO and for SGA as a whole
  • Providing effective and ethical leadership, direction and supervision of the team

The role is full-time and based in Melbourne.

Skills and experience required

  • Experienced CEO/Senior Executive that has successfully managed an organisation locally and/or globally through the growth phase
  • Exceptional people leadership skills and proven ability to build, lead, inspire and coach a small, high performing team and foster a positive work culture
  • Strong network and connections to bring deep local and global relationships, including Trusts and Foundations, Corporate Partnerships and new audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, develop and lead collaborative approaches with diverse stakeholders to translate strategy into action
  • High emotional intelligence and proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with the Co-Founders, Guardians, supporters and key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic initiatives and execute plans with the ability to simultaneously manage operational priorities
  • Demonstrated ability and experience leading and managing a not-for-profit, for-purpose organisation
  • Proven people and culture leader in a values-based environment

Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Implement and execute strategic leadership that aligns with the mission and values of SGA
  • Lead the execution of SGA’s strategic objectives

Business Development:

  • Drive organisational growth via expanding the access and impact of SGA’s programs and stories
  • Ensure SGA is well managed financially and operationally, overseeing annual budgets, growth targets and clear KPIs
  • Foster collaboration within the SGA community and beyond to create further opportunities for SGA and its impact

Advocacy + Relationships

  • Represent SGA externally, building and nourishing key stakeholder relationships

Impact + Innovation:

  • Lead the continued impact of SGA’s work via the innovation of new ideas and ways of thinking and working
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the exploration and application of new ideas and approaches to address emerging challenges

People + Culture:

  • Lead and inspire a purposeful and values aligned culture whereby trust, collaboration and innovation are nurtured
  • Demonstrate best practice leadership to empower the team collectively and to grow individual capabilities

Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, maintaining the highest standards of governance and ethical leadership
  • Work closely with the Guardians to provide regular updates on SGA’s performance and provide advice on implications and options, seeking guidance on strategic matters when required
