The Smith Family is an independent children's charity helping Australian children living in disadvantage to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. As we lead up to our Centenary, it’s an exciting time to be joining our family. We are currently seeking a Data Literacy Specialist to help us achieve The Smith Family’s vision.

Reporting to the Data Enablement Strategy Project Manager and working with a small dedicated and passionate team, you will be contributing to The Smith Family’s vision by building and enhancing our organisational data literacy and capability.

A day in the life of a Data Literacy Specialist might look like this, but every day can be different.

Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • Implementation of our Data Literacy Framework and Approach
  • Partnering with Leaders to identify, define and respond to data literacy capability requirements across their teams
  • Brokering and/or designing data literacy experiences which incorporate formal, experiential, and social learning
  • Overseeing and expanding a central sharepoint of data learning and support resources
  • Linking data literacy initiatives to business priorities to ensure leadership alignment and buy-in

It takes a special kind of person to be our Data Literacy Specialist.

Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field of learning and development and/or data analytics
  • Experience in the application of learning and behaviour change principles and practices
  • Experience in the design and implementation of training and development programs
  • Ability to relate to and assist individuals at all levels of data literacy
  • Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills
