The Smith Family is a children’s education charity that helps young Australians experiencing disadvantage to create better futures for themselves through harnessing the power of education.

We are seeking a Lawyer to join our organisation. Reporting to the General Counsel and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, you will work in a small team of experienced legal and governance professionals who will support your professional development.

About our role

You will be responsible for providing sound and pragmatic legal advice, and will have:

  • Strong contracting skills - you will advise on a range of supplier, property and funding agreements
  • Privacy law experience and willingness to keep abreast of reform
  • The opportunity to advise on a range of legal and regulatory matters including bequests, child protection, property and intellectual property law and modern slavery

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • Minimum 3 years post qualification experience, but preferably 5 years +
  • Genuine interest and wishing to build a career in the ‘for-purpose’ sector
  • Proven ability to manage complex, concurrent, time sensitive instructions and projects
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Solid technical and practical approach to solving legal and commercial issues in the regulatory context in which TSF operates.
  • Willing to obtain an employee Working With Children's Check
