This role will see you developing and implementing policy positions and advocacy activities that drive positive system reform in the assistive technology (AT) sector. Be part of a dedicated team providing a voice, education and advocacy for the sector.

Assistive Technology Suppliers Australia (ATSA) is the leading NFP peak body providing a voice, education and advocacy for the assistive technology sector for the benefit of AT users, government agencies, healthcare professionals and the industry.

Dedicated to the advancement of industry ‘best practice’ by ATSA members and the delivery of the highly regarded ATSA Independent Living Expos, we strive to improve the quality of AT provision and promote ethical business practices, ensuring the best interests of people with disability and seniors who rely on assistive technology to live valued, independent lives.

The role

ATSA are seeking a dynamic and experienced policy and advocacy specialist to fill this vital role in leading the organisation’s policy and campaign development. Reporting to the CEO, this role will develop and implement policy positions and advocacy activities that drive positive system reform. Additionally, you will:

  • Ensure people with disability and older persons retain access to life changing assistive technology throughout significant sector reforms
  • Monitor the political landscape and undertake research and analysis of the AT industry
  • Contribute to the development of policy submissions, briefing documents, correspondence
  • Develop and maintain key governmental, departmental and broader stakeholder relationships
  • Manage a small staff team

What you bring

If you have experience developing and implementing policy positions and advocacy activities that drive positive system reform, we want to hear from you. Additionally, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in government relations and stakeholder engagement
  • Tertiary qualifications in public policy, politics, health or other relevant subject area
  • High level strategic thinking and judgement
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate complex information to differing audiences
  • Project management expertise
  • Ability to work with others across teams and at all levels, as well as developing workflow processes
  • Ability to supervise and mentor staff to achieve shared objectives
