About us

Southern Cross Housing (SCH) is an accredited Tier 1 Community Housing Provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing. We manage a range of crisis, transitional, social and affordable housing properties with a portfolio of some 2,270 dwellings across an area from Wollongong to Eden and across to Jindabyne.

From humble beginnings in 1983, SCH has grown to become a leading provider of Social and Affordable Housing in Regional NSW, with a proud reputation for service excellence and innovation, which has provided opportunities for growth.

Commencing as the Shoalhaven Community Housing Scheme, we have since merged with three smaller organisations (increasing our portfolio and asset base), been successful in obtaining property management transfers and multiple capital / operational grants from government entities through competitive tender processes.

These ventures go hand in hand with our mission: To provide and expand affordable housing and appropriate support for people in need.

We intend to continue this trend of growth to meet the needs of the communities we service.

The opportunity

A vacancy has arisen to collaboratively work amongst the SCH Board, continuing the work and influence of SCH as a leader and innovator in the Social & Affordable Housing Sector.

This is a remunerated position commensurate with similar not-for-profit organisations. As a guide, Board members can expect to meet 10 times per year, engage between meetings as required and undertake annual professional development.

Per SCH’s Constitution, Directors are appointed for a three-year term with the opportunity to be reappointed up to a maximum term of 9 years.
