- Psychologist (Part-time or Full-time)
Due to increasing demand, SPELD Victoria is seeking applications from experienced practitioners with skills in assessment and a strong interest in the field of education.
Applicants must be eligible for full registration as a psychologist, and post-graduate studies in educational, developmental, neuro, or clinical psychology are highly desirable. The capacity to supervise provisional and/or recently registered psychologists will be viewed positively.
Key responsibilities of the position:
- Assess children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing learning difficulties.
- To provide support, practical strategies and recommendations in order to alleviate and overcome learning difficulties and disabilities.
- To support the development of the Organisation’s psychological services including the provision supervision to early career psychologists.
We are looking for a psychologist who meets the following:
Essential criteria :
- Eligibility for full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- Demonstrated proficiency in psychological assessment, interview and intervention techniques with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to develop positive rapport with children and adults
- Strong report writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team environment, in a clinical role and in the variety of roles undertaken as part of a not-for-profit organisation
- Commitment to advocate on behalf of clients
- Commitment to extend own professional development
Desirable:
- Accredited Masters, Doctorate or equivalent Postgraduate degree in Psychology (preferably Educational and Developmental, Clinical or Neuropsychology).
- Specialist knowledge in the identification and remediation of specific learning disorders.
- Knowledge of professional literature (research).
- Experience and knowledge of evidence-informed instruction, in particular, for students with learning disorders.
- Experience developing and running Professional Learning workshops.
- Experience in an educational environment.
- Knowledge of the Victorian school system.

This appointment is subject to:
- Working with Children (WWC) Check, a compulsory check for people who carry out child-related work in Victoria, NPC.
- Evidence of current full registration by the Psychology Board of Australia must be provided prior to commencement.
Salary will be negotiated based on the calibre of the applicant with relevant experience and skills.
