At Sutherland Shire, we pride ourselves on our commitment to creating a beautiful, protected, and healthy environment for our residents. Our Waste Services Unit plays a vital role in ensuring that our community has access to effective waste collection and disposal services while promoting sustainable practises across the region.
We are focused on making the Sutherland Shire a liveable place with high-quality amenities and services. By actively engaging with the community, we aim to minimise environmental impacts and encourage responsible waste practises that benefit everyone.
Working part-time (21 hours per week), the Waste Education and Engagement Officer will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive waste education and minimisation programs, with a strong focus on the implementation of a Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) collection service and a Community Recycling Centre (CRC). This role involves managing resources, monitoring project performance, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Key responsibilities include managing waste education programs, providing technical support to the community, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance resource recovery and reduce waste contamination.
We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about waste management and sustainability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education, communications, or environmental science, and have experience in delivering engaging programs to diverse audiences.
The successful candidate will be a critical thinker, a team player, and possess the ability to articulate complex information in simple terms while fostering a collaborative work environment.
