About Role

SSI is launching a new service across Victoria, Queensland, and NSW to support participants who have been recently released from Immigration Detention to re-integrate into communities, equipped with the skills and support to manage their psychosocial and health needs and gain sustainable employment and accommodation.

About You

The Allied Health Worker will be part of a unique program across Victoria, Queensland, and NSW providing coordination, advocacy, and support within a multidisciplinary team delivering assessments and therapeutic interventions to participants of SSI’s new Case Assessment Clinical Team (CACT) part of our Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS). We are ideally after a Social Worker or Mental Health Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Determining the nature of the participant's situation by interviewing the participant, assessing and accessing, medical, psychological, emotional, and social information, and making on-site visits.
  • Working with the multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans to address offending risk and Allied Health concerns.
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing treatment plans to help participants address current struggles.
  • Attend case conferences and advocate for participants.
  • Undertake a range of casework support responsibilities (e.g. maintaining accurate and relevant participant records) to assist in reporting, information sharing, and legal requirements.
  • Support participants in crisis, including implementing safety plans; and working with Allied Health services and family members.
  • Supporting participants to develop and maintain independent living skills.

Essential Criteria

  • Completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a two-year Master’s degree accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers or Enrolled/Registered Nurse with Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships.
  • Ability to relate and communicate with diverse populations and groups.
  • Experiencing working with clients from multicultural backgrounds; working with offenders preferred.
