About Role

This role will require you to provide holistic case management and housing support to newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants to facilitate effective resettlement in Australia through HSP services.

About You

As a HSP Support Worker you will assist HSP Staff (Team Leader, Case Managers, Housing Officers, Trainers, and other staff) in providing Foundation Settlement Services (including English, Education, and Employment), housing, and orientation components of HSP to clients. Your goal will be to empower clients to access services independently.

You will be:

  • Assist HSP Staff in delivering Reception Assistance (including Safety and Property Induction, Local Settlement Orientation, and arranging Initial Food Provision), supporting clients with registrations for essential services and orientation to life in Australia as directed by the Team Leader
  • Provide bilingual language support to case managers and other SSI staff
  • Support/assist Case Managers in implementing case plans including Foundation Settlement Service to empower clients to access services independently
  • Assist clients with their accommodation needs including dealing with housing and related service providers (eg, Real Estate Agents, Basic Household Goods Supplier(s), social and community housing services, etc.) in consultation with Case Manager and Housing Officer
  • Assist housing officer & case management staff with completing client forms including Rentstart Bond Loan, rental applications, and utility connection

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Community Services and/or equivalent relevant qualification or experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants during their initial settlement in Australia
  • Understanding of support needs of clients
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to quality standards and compliance requirements and follow internal policies and procedures;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a dynamic team
  • Working with culturally & linguistically diverse communities
  • Working level of written and spoken English skills
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications
