THE ROLE
This position will support young (12 to 25 years) male Arabic speaking clients with a range of issues and challenges, including education, emotional and social well-being. Activities will include case management, peer support, information sessions, art-based activities, site visits for further employment and education, sporting and recreational activities, and programs to foster positive social skills and mental health.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications in community, youth work, community development, sport and recreation or equivalent extensive experience in this area.
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with schools, service providers, agencies, community groups and other stakeholders to plan and deliver effective programs that respond to youth identified needs within a multi-cultural context.
- Understanding of the effects of torture and trauma on young people, their families, and communities and its impact on resettlement in Australian context.
- Demonstrated group facilitation skills and youth related social and recreation group program to refugee young people.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in supporting Arabic-speaking young people and fostering meaningful engagement with their diverse cultural communities.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within a multicultural environment including consultation and negotiation skills.
- Current First Aid Certificate, and NSW driver’s license.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Bi-lingual in a community language relevant to newly arrived refugee communities living in NSW.
*This position is considered child-related employment and will require a Working with Children Background Check and a National Police Check.
VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
*This role is a Category A role. It is mandatory for Category A workers to meet and maintain the vaccination criteria (as per the current NSW Health and STARTTS policies).
Vaccination and/or assessment is required for Category A workers for the following transmissible diseases – measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella (chickenpox), diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), influenza and tuberculosis.
COVID19 vaccination is strongly recommended, but not a requirement for employment.
If successful you must provide evidence of vaccination and/or assessment.
Should you not be able to comply with vaccination requirements before your commencement date, the offer of employment may be withdrawn.
If you have a medical reason for why you cannot be vaccinated, a medical contraindication evidence will be required.
