St Laurence House is a Sydney based charity offering medium term accommodation to children and young people
We are now looking to bring on board an experienced accounting professional to take on the important Treasurer role in the organisation. Our current Treasurer, a qualified Chartered Accountant, will remain on the Board of Directors and will oversee an orderly transition to the new Treasurer.
Our regular monthly accounts, prepared on an accrual basis, are prepared by a part-time bookkeeper who is an experienced qualified accountant.
The Treasurer will assume responsibility for:
- Reviewing the draft monthly accounts and provide any required adjustments to the bookkeeper.
- Acting as one of the two signatories to approve all payments through internet banking.
- Attendance at the monthly board meetings held through Zoom.
- Preparation of a Treasurer’s Report each month, for circulation to the Board in advance of the monthly board meetings. You will then present this report to the board at the meeting.
- The Treasurer’s report provides commentary on the monthly and year to date performance and comparison to the annual budget which has been entered into Xero.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Professional accounting qualifications (CPA Australia or CAANZ membership).
- Previous experience acting as Treasurer on NPF boards preferred but not mandatory.
- Capacity to commit to an involvement of approximately 10 hours per month and to attend board meetings typically held at 6pm on the third Wednesday of each month.
- Willingness to produce a monthly report (examples of past reports will be provided to candidates short-listed for the role).
To comply with regulations relating to Child Safe practices, Directors and all other staff members are required to hold a current Working With Children Certificate and a Police Check. Training in Child Safe practices is also provided.
