Our Service:

headspace Centres act as a one-stop-shop for young people who need help with mental health, physical health, alcohol and other drugs and/or work and study support.

Role Overview:

  • The ImpaRa Facilitator assists with organising and facilitating the ImpaRa program for young people aged between 12-25 who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander within the Logan and Beaudesert communities
  • ImpaRa’s an emotional wellbeing initiative that involves cultural governance and both individual and group program services delivery specifically for use with Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander young people and delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander people
  • Support all cultural governance activities, including working in collaboration with the Social Inclusion Coordinator, Community Engagement Coordinator and seeking input from the Youth Advisory Group of headspace Meadowbrook

Requirements:

  • As this program is specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and community, it is a requirement that applicants identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Ideally a completed qualification in Youth Work, Mental Health or another relevant discipline (or working towards completion)
  • Ideally experience in a similar role with experience facilitating programs with an understanding and passion for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people & their families
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with and engage a variety of different people and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of the rationale, principles and evidence for early intervention for mental health of young people
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other services to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of young people
  • Good computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite, Mastercare, other Client Management Systems.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance 
  • Must have a drivers license
