ABOUT THE POSITION:

  • Salary is based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) 2010 - Level 7.

STTARS is looking for a Practice Facilitator to join its Clinical Services and Leadership Teams. The Practice Facilitator will provide support and guidance to practitioners across the organisation alongside the Clinical Services Manager and Team Leaders, and is responsible for building a service delivery culture that meets best practice and integrates findings from international research and clinical practice. The Practice Facilitator will also design and deliver high quality practice development and professional learning programs within STTARS and externally to build the skills and capacity of internal staff and staff at mainstream services to appropriately respond to and care for refugee clients and survivors of torture and trauma.

Applications are encouraged from professionals who can effectively demonstrate the ability to lead high quality trauma-informed practice based on sound expertise and provide support to the highly skilled and dedicated workforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Providing individual and group reflective practice supervision to practitioners using a reflective and evidence informed approach, that ensures the work with clients is in line with best practice and STTARS model.
  • Providing advice, consultation and support to practitioners working with high risk, complex and/or sensitive cases.
  • Identifying practice quality issues for development and training opportunities.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of professional development to practitioners based on STTARS model and emerging from international best practice.
  • Providing training on behalf of STTARS to external organisations to build capacity of people in the sector to respond to the needs of survivors of torture and trauma.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate must have relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or a related discipline and hold registration with appropriate professional body. Ideally, they will also be an accredited supervisor (Psychology Board Approved Supervisor, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia or Australian Association of Social Work) and hold a Certificate IV in training and assessment.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • Extensive experience in the application of evidence-based practice in trauma recovery work.
  • Experience providing specialised case consultation and advice on complex cases.
  • Experience facilitating practice-based training for practitioners who work with survivors of trauma.
  • Experience working with refugees and/or clients of a culturally and linguistically diverse background and/or with clients who experience systemic disadvantage.
  • Ability to implement systems and processes that support accurate record keeping and preparation of reports.
  • Knowledge of reflective clinical supervision theory and approaches.
  • Knowledge of and commitments to the principles of social justice and human rights.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must also hold:

  • A valid and current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • A valid and current National Criminal History Check (Police Clearance)
