Your ROLE

As an Accommodation Support Worker, you’ll be the welcoming presence that helps new clients navigate their initial experiences with empathy and dedication. You’ll foster a nurturing and secure environment while working closely with our Case Work team to provide customised support and advocate for our clients' needs. In this fulfilling role, you’ll make a tangible difference in people's lives while being part of a supportive and inclusive team.

Your Responsibility

  • Assisting in the entry and assessment of new clients
  • Providing a safe and welcoming environment for clients who live at, or are accessing the service
  • Providing case work support as directed and in cooperation with Case Workers
  • Advocating for clients with external agencies on a needs basis
  • Undertaking a variety of tasks i.e. serving meals, supervising activities, transporting clients and other accommodation related tasks
  • Maintaining daily Communications Book and other documentation as required e.g. client records and case notes

YOU WILL NEED:

  • Appropriate Certificate or equivalent experience or currently undertaking tertiary study, in a related field (Certificate IV or working towards is desirable)
  • A background in or keen interest in crisis accommodation settings, demonstrating your commitment to supporting individuals in challenging situations
  • Knowledge of Child Protection principles and ROSH procedures, ensuring you can effectively contribute to the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Current first aid certificate.
  • Ability to work a rotating roster covering day, afternoon and sleepover shifts. 
  • Experience working with homeless clients and/or in a hospitality, accommodation or service environment is desirable.
  • Ability to use client data base and Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook is desirable.
  • Current NSW driver licence is desirable.
  • A current Working with Children Check
