Your Role

Support your local community in need by providing assertive outreach, comprehensive case management, and post-crisis support to people experiencing homelessness. The high quality support you provide will play a crucial role in assisting individuals to stabilise & sustain their accommodation, and ultimately transition away from homelessness. This role includes a weekly assertive outreach street patrol conducted outside regular working hours (approx 6 am- 2 pm).  You will be joining a dedicated team , that fosters support and collaboration, offering outstanding Learning and Development programs designed to accelerate and elevate your career. 

Your Responsibility

  • Address clients' primary needs with respect, empathy, and inclusivity, while upholding client rights and confidentiality in a non-judgemental manner.
  • Conduct home visits for clients in temporary, transitional, or permanent accommodation.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and services.
  • Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for service users.
  • Develop case plans with clients as needed, offering ongoing support to achieve and review these plans.
  • Maintain client records and case notes professionally, following service policies.
  • Meet service targets set by management, the Society, or external agencies.
  • Supervise volunteers/students according to their training organisation's requirements, including during home visits.
  • Conduct appropriate risk assessments when necessary.

You Will Need

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently pursuing tertiary studies in welfare or a related field.
  • Previous experience providing case work support to marginalised and vulnerable people.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of homelessness issues, including family breakdown, mental illness, and addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling).
  • Familiarity with local community support services for homeless clients, including government agencies and NGOs, with proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • NSW driver's license.
