The Role

Vital role for Case Worker - Freeman House, to provide high-quality case management support, group work, and general drug/alcohol treatment to clients of Freeman House. This is an autonomous role with continuous opportunity to learn, develop and grow your career with Vinnies. This role will suit a pragmatic and resilient operator. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide drug and alcohol case management and treatment support services to clients of Freeman House & associated programs.
  • Assist and support clients transitioning from withdrawal to internal and external services including residential rehabilitation, partnering treatment programs, and community organisations.
  • Provide direct strengths-based recovery-oriented support & Conduct psychosocial progress assessments in line with participants' treatment stages
  • Work in partnership with other members of Freeman House staff including other Case Workers, Nurses, Counselors, and Support Workers in order to ensure quality client outcomes
  • Support and engage with participants within a culturally sensitive framework, including seeking out guidance and advice where needed.
  • Facilitate groups within the Freeman House group program schedule and maintain accurate client records, case notes and other data as directed and required.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum TAFE Certificate IV or currently undertaking tertiary study, in welfare or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing treatment approaches designed to support clients in their treatment journey.
  • Experience in managing a caseload and case planning, including with persons with complex needs (e.g. co-occurring drug and alcohol issues along with homelessness, mental health, contact with criminal justice system).
  • Ability to use sound/ethical judgment and act appropriately in crisis and emergency situations.
  • Basic computer literacy skills including experience in computerised data collection.
  • A valid NSW drivers' licence (you will have access to society Poole vehicle at work)
