Your Role

As the Community Outreach Coordinatoryou will be managing and coordinating community outreach and engagement, fundraising, and ensuring our facilities and programs service a broad cross-section of the community, including First Nations community members, refugees and migrants, and other groups from diverse backgrounds.

Your Responsibility 

  • Coordinate a comprehensive schedule of community engagement activities throughout the year.
  • Ensure the smooth running of our Hubs, coordinating client access, member and conference services.
  • Develop and implement fundraising and recruitment strategies across the region, in conjunction with the relevant teams.
  • Integrate youth conference work with the operation of our hubs and the work of the traditional conferences.
  • Ensure a client-centred approach for all client engagements.
  • Coordinate members and volunteers to ensure best practice client engagement.
  • Ensure members and volunteers are adequately trained to welcome, engage, assess and refer clients as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organisations, government departments, health networks/professionals and other services to facilitate effective and wholistic service provision to clients, as well as rolling out targeted community engagement events.
  • Coordinate local fundraising initiatives and appeals working collaboratively with the Fundraising and Communications team.

You Will Need 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in community services, education or service delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people who experience disadvantage due to homelessness, the impact of trauma, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, and unemployment.
  • Track record of delivering successful community engagement activities and fundraising strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and facilitating high-quality programs and activities that reflect consumer voice and meet outcomes for people experiencing disadvantage.
  • Ability to apply de-escalation strategies in high conflict situations.
