The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) is the leading advocate for surgical standards, professionalism and surgical education in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.
RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research. There are nine surgical specialties in Australasia being: Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
Our Global Health Program focuses on strengthening health systems and building capacity of health workforce to improve the quality and accessibility of health, surgical treatment and post-operative care. We work across 15 countries in the Indo-Pacific Region with the support of multiple institutional and philanthropic donors.
Reporting to the General Manager, Global Health, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and deployment of volunteer surgical teams conducting surgery with clinical partners across the Indo-Pacific region, as part of the RACS Global Health Program. You will develop and maintain highly collaborative relationships with colleagues, RACS Fellows, RACS specialist medical volunteers, key suppliers and clinical partners.
This role is based in Melbourne and will be offered on a max term basis until end of December 2025, 0.8 FTE (4 days per week). In this role, you will manage RACS Medical Equipment room and suite of medical equipment and supply of drugs and consumables to ensure that comprehensive medical equipment kits, aligned to key surgical specialties, are ready and appropriate for overseas deployment.
