Focus ACT was established in 1990 and is a company limited by guarantee. Focus ACT provides support services to people with intellectual impairment by assisting them to live in, and be part of, the Canberra community. Focus ACT is the sole shareholder of Your Home Canberra Pty Ltd (YHC). YHC acquires, constructs and manages dwellings suitable for independent living and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) under the NDIS.

Focus ACT currently has approximately 235 staff and a budget of $24m. Focus ACT is embarking on its next strategic phase of evolution.

The Role

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will play a vital leadership role in the delivery of high-quality support services to clients in a complex and operationally demanding environment with funding from the NDIS at Focus ACT as well as the CEO of YHC.

As leader, you will further build and develop high performing and diverse teams. You will actively work with a professional Board in driving the value and mission of Focus ACT and YHC.

You will be an accomplished leader with proven financial, risk management and best practice governance capabilities. To be considered for this tremendous leadership opportunity, you will be a high calibre, professional individual with the following attributes:

• Demonstrated business acumen with experience in large and complex budget management environment.
• At the same time have a commitment to and knowledge of support needs of people with intellectual impairment
• Demonstrated strategic capability along with highly developed judgement and critical evaluation skills
• Demonstrated and effective leadership experience; a capable and motivated team leader with high EQ and the ability to develop and motivate staff, implement and manage strategic growth and change.
• Highly developed governance and risk management skill sets.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to communicate with influence
• Demonstrated experience in working with a professional board and multiple stakeholders
• High public and professional reputation
• High levels of integrity and ethics
• Relevant tertiary and professional qualifications

A sound understanding of NDIS legislation and experience in working with the NDIA would be an advantage.
