Senior Analyst, Commissioning for Outcomes

Social Ventures Australia

Who We Are

SVA is Australia’s most innovative social impact organisation. We were created over 20 years ago to find innovative solutions to entrenched social problems and speed up the rate of positive change. We help institutions think differently, we help redesign systems and work hand-in-hand with our passionate partners and communities to take real action and make positive social change. We use our broad outlook, transformational thinking and trusted voice to fight against inequality.

The Team

SVA’s Social Impact Initiatives (SII) teams design and deliver projects that drive systemic change to reduce inequality and bring us closer to an Australia where all people and communities thrive. The team uses a diverse set of capabilities to shift practices, policies and funding that impact the lives of those experiencing exclusion, poverty or disadvantage.

Two teams within SII collaborate to deliver impact investing products and advice, connecting social purpose organisations that need capital to grow their impact with suitable funding and advice: the Commissioning for Outcomes team and the Impact Investing team. This role will support work across both teams.

SVA’s Commissioning for Outcomes team is a pioneer of Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) in Australia and is proud of its ongoing position as a leader in the sector. Including the launch of Australia’s first SIB in 2013, the Newpin Social Benefit Bond, SVA has developed and launched 9 SIBs.

In recent years, the team has also expanded its advisory support to governments and service providers as they explore and implement social outcomes contracts.

The SVA Impact Investing team has incubated, established and managed a range of funds with varying mandates over more than a decade, including the Diversified Impact Fund (DIF), the Social Impact Investment Trust (SIIT) and the Synergis fund.

SVA Impact Investing continues to focus on capacity building and market building for impact at scale, impact investing advisory and impact investment fund and financial structures incubation.
