About the role

The Communications Specialist amplifies our purpose of ‘Enabling independence for people with disability’ through storytelling and content creation. The role is responsible for showcasing the achievements of our clients and staff, promoting our services, and raising the profile and reputation of Sylvanvale.

The Communications Specialist is part of a small, dynamic communications and marketing team who are committed to producing quality work that makes a difference, whilst keeping the customer at the centre of all that we do.

A typical day may include:

  • Developing and implementing communications plans and promoting our services.
  • Producing content and publishing newsletters, email campaigns, website stories and social media posts.
  • Collaborating with Sylvanvale clients and staff to produce stories and case studies.
  • Writing submissions and reports for Grants and Awards.

About you

You are a passionate storyteller who understands how content and communications can influence attitudes and behaviour. You understand that great writing doesn’t mean big words – it is connecting with audiences in ways that they understand. You have impeccable attention to detail and can also work in an agile way – juggling multiple tasks at the same time. You are a team player with a willingness to assist in other areas of the business.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • A minimum 2 years’ experience in a communications role.
  • Demonstrated ability to show initiative, work autonomously and manage projects to completion.
  • Proven ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills including effective verbal, electronic and written skills.
  • Experience or strong interest in producing content that is accessible (eg Easy Read) and optimised for search.

Successful applicants will require a current Australian Drivers Licence, two COVID-19 vaccinations and a booster and full Australian Work rights. An offer will be subject to a police clearance and a NDIS Worker Screening Check.
