Synapse provides a range of services for people who have been impacted by brain injury and disability. We promote quality of life, self-determination and choice through information, specialist support and targeted research activities.

About the Role

  • Responding to enquiries through the National Information and Referral service, providing information and referral options to people with a brain injury, their carers/family members and other industry providers.
  • Service Mapping and identifying other brain injury, disability, allied health, community service, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, rural and remote and mainstream providers who are likely to work with people with brain injury through intersection with criminal justice, out of home care and housing.
  • Creating connections with the services identified through the mapping process and facilitating linkages to information services, networks and programs
  • Providing information and education sessions for related industry professional, community service providers and stakeholders.
  • Developing cohort specific networks which respond to specific issues affecting marginalised cohorts affected by brain injury and or disability.
  • Organise and facilitate Brain Injury Industry conferences for Industry Professionals.
  • Identify and implement, with the support of the Manager Information, key opportunities to facilitate connection between people for information sharing and support eg online support networks for people with brain injuries and their families.
  • Entering information into Synapse’ CRM to inform future decision making and business intelligence.

Please note: This is a part time, maximum term position offering 38 hours per fortnight for a 15 month period.

About You

As the ideal candidate, you demonstrate personal alignment with Synapse’s core values. You will have demonstrated excellent work ethic throughout your employment history and present yourself in a professional, friendly and engaging manner. You are a confident self starter with a positive can do attitude.

In addition:

  • You have had experience in a community engagement role
  • You demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills
  • You have the ability to learn quickly and take direction and feedback constructively to ensure continued professional development
  • You have a genuine interest in contributing to positive outcomes for people with a disability
  • You have high level organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities
  • You are confident and comfortable with public speaking and delivering training and information sessions
  • You have a satisfactory Yellow Card (or the ability to obtain one)
