TLaWC has recently established the Taungurung – Local Government Forum (the Forum) through which TLaWC and the fifteen Local Government Agencies which operate on Taungurung Country will work together towards achieving related responsibilities and common goals. This is a positive and proactive Forum which the Local Government Engagement Coordinator will be primarily responsible for organising and developing.

Key Duties

  • Coordinate the effective running of the Taungurung Local Government Forum.
  • Build and maintain relationships with each of the Local Governments operating on Taungurung Country as well as relevant State Government agencies.
  • Report on Local Government Engagement Activity regularly to TLaWC and the Taungurung – Local Government Forum, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Facilitate feedback loops between TLaWC, Local Governments and the Forum, to ensure continuous improvement and responsiveness.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to Local Government engagement activities.
  • Lead on TLaWC’s commitment to local government partnership through engagement and stakeholder management within the partnership and the broader community.
  • Advise and build capacity among Local Government colleagues to integrate Taungurung community engagement principles into their practices.
  • Participate in local networks where possible to promote and learn from best practices in community engagement.
  • Use a systems framework approach to support and sustain Local Government engagement initiatives.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures and work instructions to support a safe work environment for all staff.
