The Benevolent Society’s vision is to build a just society where all Australians can live their best life. For more than 200 years we have supported people at the margins of society: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians; children, young people, and their families; older people; carers and people with disability. We are an independent, non-religious service provider which supports people to live life their way.
As part of The Benevolent Society's vision, we are strongly committed to reconciliation with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia. We remain steadfast in our commitment to promoting the economic, political, and social inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The Benevolent Society considers that being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act NSW 1977 / s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act QLD 1991.
The Benevolent Society is a Partner in the Community for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and are adding additional Child Development Specialists to our growing Early Childhood Approach (ECA) team.
You will work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and early childhood services to gather information on their child’s development. You will support these families to develop, understand and implement their child’s NDIS plans.
As an evolving scheme, the NDIS environment can be dynamic and fast-paced, if you are open and excited by change and love being part of creating and working through the best approach, come join us and be part of making a difference through these changes.
You will meet with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families virtually, over the phone or face to face, to gather information on their child’s development and current supports. You will work in partnership with these families to develop goals, with a focus on participant and engagement across their child’s natural environments to promote meaningful change.
We support people to live their best life. That includes you, our employee. A ‘best life’ is unique to everyone and can change as life changes:
If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, then we want to hear from you. If you would like to discuss the role further, you can contact our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workforce Specialist, Sarah Boyne, for a confidential conversation on 0403 963 268.
Please submit your current CV and cover letter outlining if you identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander or both, your suitability and interest in the role.
Contact Georgia Bingham on 0428 790 258 or Tanya Harris on 0478 283 953 for a friendly, confidential discussion.

The Benevolent Society respects and promotes human rights and diversity and is committed to building an inclusive culture. We welcome diversity in all its forms; applications from underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged. We value relationships with our local Aboriginal community and welcome applications from its members. We see ability not disability, if you identify as a person with a different ability, please get in contact to let us know how we can accommodate your needs. We pride ourselves on being a client and child safe organisation and as such all our staff and volunteers go through security screening relevant to the role.
Applications for this role will take you to the employer’s site.
