Our Organisation

The Benevolent Society’s vision is to build a just society where all Australians can live their best life. For more than 200 years we have supported people at the margins of society: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians; children, young people, and their families; older people; carers and people with disability. We are an independent, non-religious service provider which supports people to live life their way.

As part of The Benevolent Society's vision, we are strongly committed to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Australia. We remain steadfast in our commitment to promoting the economic, political, and social inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

About the role

Our Family Preservation program delivers targeted, voluntary child protection services to families with children who are at high risk of entering or escalating within the statutory child protection system. The program aims to reduce risks and strengthen families to reduce the number of children entering Out of Home Care.

Your case plans will empower families to make lasting change, build upon their resilience to reduce the risk of significant harm and make referrals to appropriate networks.

Duties

  • Develop case plans that build on the family’s resilience to enable them to overcome identified risks.
  • Provide intensive home visiting.
  • Provide intervention through the use of evidence informed practices, partnering with other services and supporting the family to shape their next chapter.
