About the role

As Team Leader of our Family Preservation program, you will be focused on ensuring your team are positioned to provide exceptional services to children and families so they can feel safe and secure. 

Reporting to the Manager Family Preservation, and managing a team of 6-7 direct reports, you will have proven experience within Child Protection. Joining a vibrant skilled program that provides many opportunities for professional growth and development, you will be working with a team of 4 team leaders collaboratively across the program.

Duties

  • Lead a team to ensure that services can be provided to clients in a way that maximise client outcomes and meet organisational, portfolio, service, funding, and external compliance objectives
  • Support team members to understand the vision, values and direction of the organisation and translate them so the team understands how they relate to their everyday practice
  • Collaborate with the Manager to ensure the way the team works is commercially effective and sustainable, identifying opportunities for process improvement or more effective ways of working
  • Collaborate with team members to help them understand and achieve performance expectations, build their capability, provide regular recognition, develop, and utilise talent in the team, and identify and achieve improved client outcomes and increase employee engagement
  • Evaluate the quality of service delivery, client plans, and client outcomes against service, funding and compliance objectives on a regular basis. Identify gaps in delivery and work with the team to build capability and/or improve service design, referring to the Manager when significant gaps are identified
  • Coordinate regular communication channels including team meetings, client, and practice reviews, and 1:1 discussions with team members
  • Identify learning needs within the team, and appropriate learning opportunities both within and without the organisation, liaising with the learning and development team as appropriate. Develop and facilitate learning opportunities when appropriate
  • Comply with mandatory reporting requirements that apply to the service, in conjunction with the Manager

Skills and Requirements

We want you to be successful in your new role! This means, you have a degree qualificationin Social Work, Psychology, Allied Health, or related discipline and:

  • Program Leadership - experience managing and leading programs in the Community Services sector
  • People Leadership - experience building/maintaining an engaged, high performing team and developing their capability
  • Practice Leadership - a passion for continuous improvement and implementing industry best practice into service delivery
  • Flexible & Collaborative Approach – lead this innovative team/program and engage a range of stakeholders
  • Excellent understanding of child protection issues & client vulnerabilities, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development
  • Strong skills and experience in assessing, identifying, and addressing child protection concerns
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast-paced environment, ever changing environment
  • Holistic strengths-based approach to achieve lasting change
