Tenants Victoria is the peak body for renters in our state and serves as Victoria’s leading specialist tenancy community legal centre. We are a respected and influential advocate for social change, working to improve conditions for people who rent their homes and experience hardship and or disadvantage.

Through our advice and information line, legal casework, law reform work, training, and community outreach activities, we support individual renters and community organisations. We also campaign for policy, procedural, and legislative change. Amid a rental crisis, this is a significant time to join our dynamic team and help support Victorian renters facing housing challenges across the breadth of our state.

THE ROLE

This is a new role designed to help sustain and grow Tenants Victoria’s digital innovation – including our website and helpline technology. The role will support the Director, Impact and Innovation to implement significant improvements to our website as a service channel and support the organisation with developing the requirements for new technology and systems to support our phone intake services.

About you:

You will have experience in the design and delivery of online improvements, ideally in a not for profit environment. You will be comfortable maintaining a website, including managing relationships with external developers and other contractors. You will understand and help to implement user experience led changes to our online environment.

With the Director, Impact and Innovation, you will lead the development of our future website strategy, including implementing a new information architecture to support improved navigation, simplicity and helpfulness of new content and self-help tools.

You will have a good understanding of and comfort using google analytics and other measurement approaches to share insights and guide decision making about future online service and related developments.

Key Selection Criteria

1. Several years experience in design, development and/or leading user experience initiatives in the online environment.
2. Familiarity with Word Press or similar online environment, and confidence managing production, trouble shooting and backlog management in consultation with developers.
3. Experience working with subject matter experts, content writers and other colleagues to build and sustain excellent online experiences for community members.
4. Understanding of the role of online service channels and tools in a not for profit or community service context.
5. Strong communication skills including using visual communication to convey key messages or help reach consensus in projects with colleagues and stakeholders.

This is initially a 12-month contract but there is a potential for extension of the role.
