We are growing and currently have a Support Worker vacancy working with and supporting participants to achieve their NDIS plan goals. This is an opportunity to join The Co-operative Life supporting individuals living with complex psychosocial conditions to lead meaningful lives.

THE ROLE DUTIES

We are looking for experienced Male Psycho-social Support Workers to fill sleepover positions that we have available in our Campsie Life Home. The available shifts include Wednesday 1500 – 0700 (inactive 1100 – 0700) with possible day shifts.

You will provide a range of support services, dependent upon the client's requirements.

You need to have experience with complex personality disorders and AOD support.

You should be an empathetic and pragmatic thinker, be able to work both independently and within a team environment.

Our clients require Support Workers who will assist them to maintain and increase their independence by supporting them with domestic activities, social and community participation and transportation.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience - of previous psycho-social disability support
  • Working within the community and Mental Health environment experience is required
  • Cert III/or IV in Mental Health
  • Proof of 3 doses COVID19 Vaccination requirement being met (including of the validation of the medical exemptions, if any) under the NSW Public Health Order
  • In-depth understanding of NDIS industry requirements
  • In-depth person-centred support experience
  • Empathy and the ability to build strong relationships
  • Experience in mental health disability support
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Have a reliable, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Must have a current valid NSW Australian Driver's Licence
  • Own a smart phone with Internet access
  • Current NDIS Clearance (which replaced National Police Clearance)
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Valid working rights within Australia

  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate as part of a diverse team and work autonomously.
  • High level of stress resilience and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and use initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and active listening skills.
