The Geelong Withdrawal Unit provides a residential medicated withdrawal service for those who are seeking to recover from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Clients reside in the Unit during their episode of care and are provided with all meals and facilities. Clients can remain in the programme for a further 21 days (Stage 2) post their medicated withdrawal (Stage 1) to stabilise and plan for their recovery post discharge.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a casual AOD Support Worker to:

  • Support clients of the Geelong Withdrawal Unit through the process of withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs
  • Support and work in partnership with nursing staff to offer the activities and to adhere to the timetables of the withdrawal unit programme

Salary and conditions are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 4.
The Geelong Withdrawal Unit operates 24/7 incorporating morning, afternoon/evening and night shifts and is located in Corio.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Cert IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs Competencies CHCAOD 2C, 6B, 8C, 9C AND 10A/ Community Welfare Diploma
  • Clinical knowledge of dual diagnosis
  • Practical experience in AOD sector service delivery, with an understanding of addictive behaviour and drugs, both illicit and licit
  • Skills in managing challenging behaviours
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
