​Within The Salvation Army Social Mission programs, we are involved in a broad integrated range of services with an aim to bring support to some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged adults experiencing homelessness in Melbourne's Central, Northern and Western metropolitan areas.

The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. Our philosophy is that every person deserves dignity, respect and quality of service and that no one should be without a safe, affordable and secure home. Services are free, voluntary, accredited and delivered by professional and committed staff.

We are looking for a talented and passionate Case Manager to work in our Open Door and Flagstaff Accommodation (ODFA) case management team. This is a permanent full-time position.

You will successfully

  • Incorporate assertive engagement and rapport building with clients
  • Promote therapeutic interventions, engagement with health and other treatment services and social inclusion activities
  • Create transferable relationships, promote independence and sustainable pathways out of homelessness
  • Provide current and relevant resources to the Case Management team
  • Develop case plans in collaboration with clients to support their goals
  • Regularly monitor and review individual case plans
  • Maintain accurate up to date client records and data
  • Actively contribute to building a strong culture in the team

The position will be based in West Melbourne, though may be required to work from other TSA sites, such as North Melbourne.

You will have

  • Tertiary qualifications in psychology, social work, community services or related field
  • Ability to deliver high-quality support services to vulnerable people
  • Knowledge of homelessness and social housing, crisis intervention and the ability to collaborate with other program areas
  • Skills in engaging with the specified client group; demonstrated capacity to build effective relationships with clients based on social work and psychologically informed environments
  • Assessment skills and knowledge of a range of theories including trauma-informed practice and strengths-based approaches
  • Demonstrated capacity to time manage while maintaining required documentation and IT systems to DFFH and organisational standards
  • Competent to work solo when required and respond effectively to critical incidents in a safe manner
  • Has the ability to remain calm, focused and maintain perspective when faced with change, crisis and difficulty
