What is the Orange Door Program?

Orange Doors brings together different practices to create an integrated Orange Door team and a consolidated intake point in each Orange Door area to create a new way of support for: women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence. The Orange Door team includes a mix of staff employed by FSV and staff employed by CSOs, Aboriginal services and DHHS.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Family Violence Practice Leader to provide practice leadership in each Support and Safety Hub (The Orange Door).

The Family Violence Practice Leader is responsible for providing practice leadership on risk assessment, risk management and planning for family violence and providing expert advice to the Orange Door workforce in relation to complex family violence cases and perpetrator interventions. The Family Violence Practice Leader will also proactively build specialist evidence-based family violence knowledge and capability across the Orange Door workforce in line with the Orange Door Service Model and Integrated Practice Framework.

This role requires you to work across several Orange Door sites located throughout the Inner Gippsland Region. This includes Morwell, Leongatha, Warragul and Wonthaggi. This is a full-time position max-term for 12 months with possibility to become ongoing, based in Morwell, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 8 Award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist secondary case consultation and technical input on complex family violence cases and perpetrator interventions
  • Jointly manage small caseload of complex or sensitive family violence cases
  • Work with practice leaders, Hub Team Leaders, and Hub practitioners where appropriate to identify and resolve practice issues
  • Support practitioners to understand the tactics of coercion, power and control used by perpetrators of family violence and apply strategies to hold perpetrators to account
  • Prioritise and approve Central Information Point (CIP) requests in collaboration with Advanced Family Violence Practice Leader (AFVPL)
  • Prioritise and assess potential referrals to the Risk Assessment and Management Panel (RAMPs)

About you:

  • Professional clinical experience and relevant qualification(s) in Social Work, Welfare, Psychology or related discipline is essential
  • Strong knowledge of the causes of family violence and child and family vulnerability
  • Demonstrated experience to lead family violence practice within complex service delivery contexts
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership of staff, who provide family violence support to women and children
  • Demonstrates knowledge of FDV including context, principles, philosophies, policies, regulations and legislation
  • Applies FDV models, theories and practices when dealing with clients
  • Knowledge of general models of intervention in social work
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence, valid WWCC and police clearance as part of the recruitment process
