About the Role:

We are seeking a Project Coordinator - Salvation Army International Development (SAID), on a Max-term Full-time basis in Location: Redfern, NSW / Blackburn, VIC / QLD / SA.

Purpose of the Role:

To successfully co-ordinate Community Development projects with Implementing Partners across the entire project life cycle, ensuring projects are fully compliant and aligned to the SAID Strategic Action plan, best practice and SAID's Theory of Change.  

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Project Coordination

  • Support implementing partners to design, implement, monitor, evaluate and document projects according to SAID strategy, the SAID Theory of Change, relevant policies, standards, procedures, tools and Government Funding requirements. This includes Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People Policy, the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment Standards and consistency with the TSA Quality Management Framework.
  • Monitor the implementation of projects through the review of progress reports and regular communication, including monitoring visits as required
  • Provide relevant reports and analysis of projects for learning and continuous improvement
  • Ensure project-related risks and issues are effectively managed, ensuring risks, concerns, suspicions, allegations and incidents are reported as required, and appropriate mitigation strategies are in place. 
  • Manage back donor grant requirements, including DFAT
  • Support partners to deliver quality community development projects with sustainable outcomes, achieving benefits outlined in the project proposal within time and budget.

Networking and Partnerships

  • Develop, network and maintain positive relationships with implementing partners, support territories and IHQ for the purpose of partnership and project development and delivery
  • Liaise with other TSA departments, including finance, communications and quality and safety
  • Represent SAID at relevant workshops, events and meetings
  • SAID Climate Action and Environmental Stewardship Focal Point
  • Develop subject matter expertise related to climate and environment in international and community development programming
  • Support the SAID projects team to more effectively address climate and environment- related issues in community development programming

Education Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in international development, social sciences, program management or other relevant field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3-years working or volunteering in international development
  • Knowledge of the ACFID Code of Conduct and DFAT accreditation standards.
  • An understanding of governance models in the NGO/charity sector
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills
  • Understanding of international development issues including gender, disability, environment and child protection
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, including ACFID, DFAT, and implementing partners.
  • Demonstrated strong planning, analytical, time management and administrative skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Requirements of the role:

  • A national police record check is required.
  • Valid Working with children's check
  • Mandatory ACFID PSEAH training.
  • Will need to commit to a minimum of 30 days travel as part of role per year, whether overseas, intra-state or inter-state and be willing to work outside of regular hours.
  • Comply with Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People Framework and the Quality Management Framework of the Salvation Army.
