Turning Stones, in partnership with the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC), is leading the search for a Director of Policy, Research, and Partnerships - an influential role where you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on pharmacy education and accreditation in Australia.

The Australian Pharmacy Council plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards in pharmacy education and accreditation. As the Director of Policy, Research, and Partnerships, you will join a highly respected organisation that values innovation and is committed to advancing the pharmacy profession.

In this role, you will lead a small team to drive key projects, develop policies, and implement research strategies to drive innovation and change. Your ability to manage key stakeholder relationships and foster collaboration will be crucial as you lead and grow your team.

As Director, you will have a unique opportunity to help shape the future role of pharmacists through research and development of policies in response to consultations with Ahpra, the Pharmacy Board, other professional bodies, and research advisory groups. This role offers the chance to apply your understanding of research methodologies and policy development to meaningful, impactful work. This work is critical to support the increasing scope of practice and shifts in pharmacist roles now and into the future.

While direct experience in the pharmacy sector is not required, you will need to learn and navigate its complexities, including the relationships between various pharmacy organisations. A background in health and or education would however be advantageous. APC operates with more agility than government bodies and offers a flexible working environment.

Your strong background in policy or research within the education or health sectors will help you understand the Australian pharmacy landscape, its educational standards, and APCs role in the broader health system, particularly in relation to educational quality. You will complement this with a leadership style that fosters collaboration, innovation, and effective communication across diverse professional groups.

You will also oversee the implementation of the Leaders in Indigenous Pharmacy Profession Education (LIPPE) strategic plan, which is central to APCs commitment to embedding cultural safety in pharmacy education and improving Indigenous health outcomes. Your capability to work sensitively and collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations will be vital. You will oversee this important program with the support of the LIPPE Manager and through the LIPPE Steering Committee.

Although APC would prefer the successful candidate to be Canberra based, they are willing to negotiate a remote working arrangement for strong interstate applications.
