The Wilderness Society is working for a future that does not rely on continued destruction of nature and our climate, but rather flourishes because of our responsible stewardship of these core life support systems. We value organisational independence and integrity.
Be part of a team that’s secured some of the biggest wins for Australian wilderness and nature: stopping the damming of the Franklin River forty years ago, keeping big oil out of the Great Australian Bight, or defending special forests the length and breadth of this continent.
We are looking for a creative and committed individual to join our Membership & Fundraising team.
The Bequest Officer’s role is to steward and grow the pipeline of people looking to leave a gift to the Wilderness Society in their Will.
In collaboration with the Outreach Manager and other colleagues, you will drive the acquisition of new bequest prospects from within the Wilderness Society supporter base and from outside sources. You will welcome and support these supporters along their bequest journey and coordinate supporter events and other activities.
You will need a great balance between people and process skills to succeed in this busy role. You will be working in collaboration with colleagues in the Outreach team and elsewhere within the organisation to deliver highly engaging supporter events, meaningful conversations and lasting relationships.
We need someone who, like us, wants to make a positive difference to the natural world around them - now and for generations to come. Experience in a similar role is welcomed, but if you have that desire to make a difference; and the creative, organisational and relational skills to do it; then we want to talk to you.
Our approach to diversity is about embracing everyone. From building a culture where all employees can bring their best selves to work to deploying initiatives that support the different needs of our staff, we are proud to be part of building an inclusive world for all.
We are a supportive and inclusive workplace with excellent conditions, including:
We’d love to have you if you:
If you identify as a First Nations person, a woman, LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, a person with a disability, a person of colour, or if you are from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, we strongly encourage you to apply.
A position description is attached that details the essential and desired skills.
Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia to be considered for the role.
