Job Overview:

The TWU is looking for a dynamic, creative communications all-rounder to support our team at an exciting time for the union.

The Transport Workers’ Union (TWU) is one of Australia’s leading campaigning trade unions, holding some of the biggest companies in the world to account over their treatment of workers, such as Qantas, Amazon and the supermarket giants.

This is a pivotal moment to join the TWU’s award-winning communications team as we action ground-breaking new laws passed earlier this year, following a 20+ year union campaign. The laws will provide minimum standards in road transport, Australia’s deadliest industry, including world-first rights for exploited gig economy workers like food delivery riders, rideshare drivers and AmazonFlex parcel couriers.

The TWU has also cemented its role as a powerful voice for aviation workers, playing an integral role in rebuilding the industry, fighting for a reset of decent jobs above and below the wing, and getting Virgin Australia back in the air after administration. Our members achieved a historic victory against Qantas in the Federal Court, Full Court of Appeal and High Court over the illegal outsourcing of 1700 workers. Now we have a plan to lift standards across the whole industry.

If you’re passionate about human rights, have diverse communications skills and are driven to put your creativity to use for the good of others, we want to hear from you.
