The Transport Workers’ Union of Australia (TWU) is one of Australia’s leading campaigning trade unions, holding some of the biggest companies in the world to account over their treatment of workers, such as Qantas, Amazon and the supermarket giants.

The TWU has led the charge in highlighting and tackling exploitation in the gig economy, pressuring companies and the government to address chronic underpayments and deadly pressures on food delivery riders and rideshare drivers.

Since it was founded, the TWU has represented the interests of truck drivers and logistics workers, exposing the financial pressures by major retailers, manufacturers, and oil companies on road transport - Australia’s deadliest industry.

The TWU is seeking a motivated Finance Officer to provide general accounting support. A competitive salary is on offer to the successful candidate. The position is full time.

THE ROLE:

• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Credit Card Administration
• Month End process
• Reconciliations – including General Ledger
• Asset Register
• Audit preparation & support
• Annual statutory/legislative obligations
• Assisting Financial Controller as required
• Relief payroll
• General Administration assistance as necessary

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

• Extensive experience in a similar role – not for profit highly regarded
• Strong work ethic
• Proficient in MYOB & Excel
• Demonstrated accounting knowledge
• Sound knowledge of statutory/legislative obligations including GST & FBT
• Demonstrated high level communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage workload & competing deadlines
• Self motivated
• Ability to work in a collaborative based environment
• Knowledge of database/membership systems – highly regarded
• Commitment to labour values
