The Bringing Them Home Committee (WA) Inc. exists to work for recognition and justice for the Stolen Generations and their families.

A 12 months Max Term opportunity has arisen for an Executive Officer to join Bringing Them Home WA to take responsibility for the overall implementation of the Yokai: Healing Our Spirit program (http://yokai.com.au/)

The role will liaise with relevant partners and stakeholders to clearly define the scope of the Yokai: Healing Our Spirit program and develop clear objectives and appropriate project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Work with Consultants to progressively adapt the Business Model for the Yokai: Healing Our Spirit program.
  2. Work with Project Partners and funding bodies to secure funding for ongoing phases of the Yokai: Healing Our Spirit program.
  3. Manage and coordinate project work plans, timelines, implementation and evaluation methods.
  4. Identify impacts and manage risks associated with projects and report on these.
  5. Ensure the preparation of project reports and related documentation.
  6. Provide costing or budget reports to key stakeholders.
  7. Maintain a comprehensive Stakeholder Management Plan, including stakeholder engagement terms of reference and participate in Chairing stakeholder joint meetings.
  8. Plan and coordinate project events.
  9. Monitor and evaluate project implementation including the collection and analysis of project data.
  10. Undertake other activities which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the accountabilities and responsibilities as listed above.

Being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under section 50D of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA).

Qualifications

  1. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  2. Completion of a relevant qualification with considerable relevant experience in the community services sector; or have
  3. An equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.

Experience and Skills

  1. Experience at a senior management level in the not-for-profit services sector.
  2. Substantial applied knowledge of issues relating to the Stolen Generations and their families.
  3. Experience of issues in relation to Aboriginal social disadvantage.
  4. Experience of culturally based collective healing practices in the Aboriginal community.
  5. Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate and implement project plans to achieve desired outcomes within required constraints.
  6. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and with cross cultural sensitivity.
  7. Demonstrated effective written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise project reports.
  8. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to accuracy and detail within deadlines.
  9. Proven ability to work well in a team, including respecting difference, leading, supporting others, accepting direction, and working to group goals.
  10. Demonstrated effective decision making and problem-solving skills.

Other requirements:

  1. Occupants of this position will be required to undertake a criminal record check.
  2. This position will involve occasional interstate travel and travel to regional WA.
